Learn how Light Pollution Threatens Your Health as well as the wildlife that we share the planet with. Sea Turtles are at particular risk.

Anthony Under The StarsAs my homepage states "I am committed to fighting light pollution." I do so first and foremost, because of my love for the night sky. I have spent countless hours taking in its majesty from more locations than I can count. Each and every night is different and special in its own way.

Stargazing is a threatened endeavor. The relentless spread of light pollution threatens to eradicate the night sky for much of the worlds population. Light by glaring light, we're erasing stars from the sky. Its been such a slow and steady progression, that most people didn't even notice it happening. But, I sure did. Much of what I hold dear is at risk. My efforts are to halt and eventually reverse this trend.

The night sky is important to us all. Even if you don't have the slightest interest in stargazing, the night sky provides a sanity check for us all. Just as the view across a smog covered city by day is a clear indication of its environmental health, the view of the night sky is its after hours counterpart. Areas which show our Milky Way Galaxy in all its majesty are displaying a health and vigor that is typically lacking. Click on the preceding link to see what the sky should look like.

Light pollution is a scourge to our environment. It wastes vast sums of money, needlessly consumes huge quantities of our energy resources and then contributes to air pollution and global warming by forcing utility companies to burn fossil fuels to produce all the electricity to drive all the needlessly produced outdoor lighting.

Starry Night Lights is located in Park City, Utah. A beautiful mountain town located in northern Utah. Park City skies still display the Milky Way, though no where near as brilliantly as they did just a few years ago. A decade-long frenzy of thoughtless development has made its indelible mark on it.

Starry Night Lights aims to restore the night sky to its past luster. We're working to address the problem one bad light at a time.
